W. Scott Wagner,
DMD, LVIF

A native Floridian, Dr. Wagner grew up in Gainesville and attended Wake Forest and Florida State Universities. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology before pursuing his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. He graduated in 1998 with honors, ranking in the top five of his class and being inducted into the esteemed Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society.

Dr. Wagner’s passion for the ever-changing field of dentistry motivates him to take over 100 hours of continued education each year. He’s had the pleasure of studying with some of the world’s leading cosmetic and restorative dentists, including Peter Dawson, Frank Spear, and John Kois. In 2002, Dr. Wagner committed himself to the curriculum at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. LVI is internationally recognized as the premier post-graduate center for the study of advanced cosmetic, restorative, and neuromuscular techniques. With the guidance of some of the greatest minds in dentistry today (Bill Dickerson, Norm Thomas, Sam Kherani, Clayton Chan, Mike Miyasaki, Ron Jackson, Robert Jankelson, and Heidi Dickerson), Dr. Wagner has learned state-of-the-art techniques in a wide range of dental disciplines.

In 2005, Dr. Wagner completed the core curriculum at LVI, and in 2007, he received his LVI Fellow designation for this achievement, as well as passing an exam to show his complete understanding of the LVI protocols. In 2008, the directors of LVI showed their faith in his ability by asking him to be an LVI Clinical Instructor. Dr. Wagner takes pride in sharing his enthusiasm for learning with other dentists. He believes that this makes him a better dentist every day. “Being a perpetual student of dentistry is critical. Our profession is changing and progressing so fast. If you’re not keeping up with things, you’re really falling behind.”

In 2010, Dr. Wagner moved to a new location and built a facility that was reflective of all the training, experience, and goals that had been set. The previous “Jacksonville Exceptional Dentistry” name and location was now replaced with ECCELLA, a root word meaning ‘excellence.’ With this new facility came expanded capabilities and opportunities to change lives and commit to a wellness approach.

“Our previous facility would not allow for a surgeon, an aesthetician, a neuromuscular massage therapist, and me. There are truly very few things we can’t do here. Probably my biggest personal challenge is making sure I don’t overwhelm people with all of the health/wellness information. I legitimately just get excited. There’s a fine line between educating and overwhelming people with information. Truly, we do our best to have patience so we can be careful listeners. Bottom line, we have to meet our patients’ expectations AND help them process more information than they’ve ever been offered before. Honestly, between fillings, crowns, onlays, gum disease…just the basics are enough. But when you add implants, snoring/sleep apnea, neuromuscular therapies, Invisalign, smile enhancement, skin care, and Botox (among other things), it can be overwhelming. That’s why I strive each day to create options for people and let them choose which is right for them. Whatever direction they go, I know in my heart that I have given them an opportunity for whatever is best for them.”

Devoted to your comfort and creating an exceptional dental experience, Dr. Wagner follows the latest trends in dentistry. He has chosen to equip his Jacksonville Beach dental office with high-tech tools that afford unrivaled quality, comfort, convenience, and diagnostic capability. This technology (along with a highly trained team) allows Dr. Wagner to provide his guests with an experience that exceeds their expectations.

On a personal level, Dr. Wagner married the woman of his dreams, Kate, in 2006. They’re proud parents of two beautiful, happy children and family to a dynamic group of pets that includes Weimaraners, cats, fish, and the occasional snake, lizard, gecko, or bug!

Dr. Wagner balances his passion for work with his passion for living. His favorite hobbies include golf, surfing, mountain biking, and music. He is an accomplished guitarist and singer. He also considers himself a “waterman” and loves surfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, water skiing, scuba diving, windsurfing, and fishing. He lives by the adage “work hard, play hard” and believes that his zeal for life allows him to be a better dentist for you.

SERVICES
OFFERED

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are fully customized, wafer-thin sheaths of tooth-colored dental porcelain. This lifelike material even possesses the glass-like properties that make tooth enamel slightly reflective and translucent; this means that when your veneers are bonded to your teeth, they’ll blend seamlessly into your smile in a natural way that is entirely undetectable. They effectively promote a beautiful, even smile free of common cosmetic flaws, including chips, cracks, gaps, moderate misalignment, and discoloration.

TMJ
DISORDER

TMJ disorder and a misaligned bite often go hand in hand. Patients with TMJ disorder may grind their teeth and suffer from worn or misaligned teeth. Dr. Wagner has extensive training in “bite” issues (occlusion), and neuromuscular dentistry from the world-renowned postgraduate facility, Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. His training and experience allow him to accurately diagnose TMJ disorder and provide effective solutions.

Dental Implant Restorations

Dental implants represent the most advanced treatment available to date. A tiny titanium anchor placed in the jawbone serves as a tooth root, and a natural-looking crown, bridge, or denture attaches to the root for a lifelike restoration with unrivaled support and function. This is unique compared to most general practices around the country. As a result, you can receive specialized care – including the surgical placement of your implants and their final restorations – in one convenient location.

Oral Cancer Screening

All adults should have an annual VELscope exam because a quarter of oral cancer victims are non-smokers, don’t drink, and have no lifestyle factors to heighten their oral cancer risk. Men over 40 and women between the ages of 20 and 40 are the most prone to the disease. Patients with lifestyle risks, including any tobacco use, daily alcohol consumption, viral infections, autoimmune deficiencies like HIV, and diabetes may need more frequent evaluations.

“Dr. Scott Wagner is the most competent dentist I have ever had, his knowledge of Neuromuscular Dentistry combined with his aesthetic skills produce a superlative result that is comfortable and functional. I’ve had a lot of bad experiences in the past, and I’m picky but this office is a 10 out of 10.
